Explanation / Answer

1)Permeability is said to be the amount of pores which is interconnected to each other. In other words permeability is also the word which is used as a replacement word for effective porosity. Permeability is generally used in petroleum geology while effective porosity is used for hydrology. The situation of rise of water in a small diameter tube inserted into the water is due to the phenomenon of capillary action. This capillary rise h = 0.51/r metres, where r is the radius of the tube inserted. Therefore the above statement is false.

2) Immediate settlement, primary consolidation settlement and secondary settlement are the terms used for the terms used for a suspension load to fall on the basis of their specific gravity onto the bedload. Therefore it is mainly used for the suspension making sediments. Hence the statement is true because sand can form a suspended load.
