Question
A have a mechanical breakdown, the probability that a specifie ambulance will be available when needed is 0.9. (Theavailability of one ambulance is independent of the availability of the other.) (12 Points) 15. A hospital has two ambulances. Because an ambulance can be out on a call or In the event of a catastrophe, what is the probability that both ambulances ill be available? .9 13 :3 What is the probability that neither ambulance will be available? (A,A, B): P(AUB) 2/ If an ambulance is needed in an emergency, what is the probability that at least one will be available? If one ambulance is available, what is the probability that the other one is not available?Explanation / Answer
15) probability that both ambulance will be available =P(AnB)=P(A)*P(B)=0.9*0.9=0.81
probability that neither ambulance will be availble =P(AcnBc) =P(Ac)*P(Bc) =(1-0.9)*(1-0.9)=0.01
probability that at least one ambulance will be available =P(AUB)=1-P(AUB)c =1-P(AcnBc)=1-0.01 =0.99
probabilty that other is available given other is not aviable =P(Ac|B) =P(AcnB)/P(B)=P(Ac)*P(B)/P(B)=P(Ac)
=1-0.9=0.1
