QUESTION 15 is the fastest-growing energy technology in the world e Hydroelectric power Geothermal power Photovoltaic energy e wind power QUESTION 16 What is the function of a geothermal heat pump? O It uses the thermal gradients in the ocean to generate electricity O It uses tidal waves and the movement of the ocean to generate electricity O It exchanges heat with the ground below a house to either heat or cool the house O Generate electricity by pumping water up hill QUESTION 17 A fuel cell converts hydrogen fuel and from the afmosphere into electricity Nitrogen O Oxygen QUESTION 18 Which energy source requires no fuel inputs and thus uses no water and roleases no solid waste o Oa Hatural gas

Explanation / Answer

15) Wind power is the fastest growing energy in the worldGlobal wind power generating capacity rose to 4900 megawatts at the end of 1995, up from 3700 megawatts a year earlier, an increase 32%. Wind power produces no health damaging air pollution or acid rain. nor does produce carbon dioxide the main greenhouse gas now undermining the stability of the world's atmosphere.

16) The function of the geothermal heat pump is that it exchanges heat with the ground below a house to either heat of cool the house. During the winter Climate master geothermal heating and cooling system absorb heat stored in ground through the water that circulate in the ground loop. This heat carried to the ground source heat pump where it's concentrated and then sent as warm, comfortable air throughout our house. But in summer Climate master geothermal heating and cooling systems absorb heat from our house and transfer it to the ground loop where it is then absorbed by the cooler earth. The geothermal heat pump uses the cool water returning from the ground to creat cool, dehumidified air conditioning for our houses.

17) A fuel cell converts Hydrogen fuel and Oxygen from the atmosphere into electricity. It is done through chemical reaction, but without combustion. This reaction converts hydrogen and Oxygen into Water, and in the process also creats electricity. It is an electro-chemical energy conversion device thar produce electricity, water and heat.
