Explanation / Answer

40. The EI Nino Southern Oscillation can be best described as variation in wind speed over the Pacific ocean.

The rising air in the east Pacific cools above and turns westward in the troposphere and ultimately desends in the tropical west Pacific giving birth to high pressure which drives warm air towards the coasts of South America. Thus, a complete convective cell is formed which is called EI Nino-Southern Oscillation Event.

41. It has been hypothesized that if the climate continues to warm, we may end up in a permanent EI Nino state - False.

42. Tsunami are generated primarily in relation to subduction zone earthquake, underwater landslides, underwater volcanic eruptions, asteriod impact into the ocean.

Tsunamis are the seismic waves, caused by the earthquake travelling through sea water, generate high sea waves and cause great loss of life and property. Since the Pacific ocean is girdled by the ring of earthquake and volcanoes tsunamis are more common in the Pacific.

43. A tsunami is considered to be a deep-water wave.

Tsunami is generally a sea-wave caused by displacement of large volume of water in an ocean or large lake.
