Reflect on this from our studies this term. How have power shifts shaped contemporary global cultures? Think about the rise and fall of the Church, the Mughal Empire, the Ottoman Empire, European colonialism and the current status of American military, economic and political global dominance. How did each of these power configurations affect local cultures? What evidence do we see of these power influences today? In what ways does current power affect culture? Do you see this changing in the future? Geo-political Power shifts are between states and they are rarely peaceful. During the beginning of 20th century Japan and Germany they failed to have a peaceful collaboration. This results in the conflict and devastation occurred. The transformation of international systems need different political and cultural traditions. In this states of Asia played a major role. The rising powers of Japan and Germany are nationalistic.
The growing power of Asia converting into greater political and military powers this helps in increasing the political damage of conflicts. Taiwan, Kashmir they have defied peaceful resolution.
There is transfer of powers from West to East and they are dealing with the different international challenges.
In the middle ages, churches were the place with supreme power and pope was the head in western Europe. The Pope and the other members of church they started misusing the power this leads to the falls of churches. In India Mughals ruled from 1526 with Babur's accession to the throne and ended with the death of Auranzeb in 1707, in 1857 after revolt britishers brought an end to Mughal empire. Ottoman Empire ended with the fighting between the Ottoman Empire and the Allies where Ottoman lose their throne.
The world's only superpower is the United States, dominating the world's economic and political systems. United States are with the strongest military and economy and us capable to influence worldwide. It is so because they have its root in Pacific and Atlantic oceans these oceans are considered as major trade routes of the world and their strategic positioning provides geographical benefits. America also have competent and aggressive policies therefore they are the superpowers of the world.
