Question

This Question: 8 pts 22 of 25 (18 complete) ? Assume that the significance level is ?: 01. Use the given information to find the P-value and the critical value(s). The test statistic of Z = 1.77 is obtained when testing the claim that p > 0 6 cck here to view page 1 of the Normal table Click nere to view page 2 of the Normat lable P-value-L?(Round to four decimal places as needed ) The critical value(s) is/are z=? Round to two decimal places as needed. Use a comma to separate answers as needed)

Explanation / Answer

we have to find the value of p when z is equal to 1.77

i.e. P(z>1.77)

this can be written as 1-P(z<1.77) using the identity P(z>a) =1- P(z<a)

we get

P(z>1.77) =1 - P(z<1.77) = 1 - 0.9616 ........................(we got 0.9616 using normal distriibution table)

so, we can write it as

P(z>1.77) = 1 - 0.6916 = 0.0384 (rounded to 4 decimals)

p value is less than 0.10, this it is significant and we can reject the null hypothesis.

Critical values using normal distribution for 0.10 significance level are -1.64, 1.64

calculated z score is outside this region, this means z score suggests that the null hypothess is rejected.
