? |?https://w.dugen un ady & Practice Assignment Gradebook ORION en Assignment MESSAGE Y Question 23 The 2010 U.S. Census asked every household to report information on each person living there. Suppose for a sample of 30 houneholds selected, the mumber of persors lving inah was reported as follows Compute the mean, median, mode, range, lower and upper quartiles, and interquartile range for these data (Round the mean to 2 decimal places.) Mean- median QR Question Attempts: 0 of 1 used FOLATSURETN ype here to search

Explanation / Answer

Mean = Sum of all observatrions/total number of observations

          = 75/30 = 2.50 persons per household

Median = Middle Value

Since the number of observations are even median will be n/2th and (n/2 +1)th observations mean.

Median = (2+2)/2 = 2

Mode = Most repeated observation = 2 (11 times)

Range = Maximum - Minimum = 8 - 1 = 7

Lower Quartile = 25th percentile = (n/4)th observation

                         = 7.5th observation

Since it is not there we take 7th and 8th observations mean

Lower Quartile = (1+1)/2 = 1

Upper Quartile = 75th percentile = 22.5th observation

Upper Quartile = 22nd and 23rd observations mean = (3+3)/2 = 3

Interquartile Range = Upper quartile - Inter Quartile

                                = 3 - 1 = 2.
