Explanation / Answer

climate of the earth is controled by the atmosphere and types of gases present in this. without green house gases temperature of earth will be in minus degree celsius, that is around 255 kelvin, but due to the presence of green house gases the temperature increases due to the heat absorbing capacity of this gases. along with this the albedo of earth play an important role in the climate system the average albedo of earth is calculated to be 0.3, this means that 30% of the incident solar radiation reflected back to space. it is calculated that around 1370 w/m2 energy incident on the upper atmosphre of earth but part of it reflected back from there itself. clouds allow the short wavelength radiations from sun to pass through it but it prevent the long wavelength radiations so, during the cloudy days heat will be more than the normal. today the increasing amount of green house gases has increased the amount of heat trapped with in the atmosphere and it leads to the global warming and melting of the polar ice caps and glaciers.
