Question

The USGS now maintains a groundwater site analogous to the “waterwatch” site monitoring streams in real time: http://groundwaterwatch.usgs.gov/.  Examine the site for areas of unusually high or low groundwater levels, and compare with streamflow data for the same areas.  Consider what factors might cause groundwater and streamflow levels to be correlated (both high or both low), or not.  You may find areas in which some wells show abnormally high levels, and some show abnormally low levels, how can this be?

Explanation / Answer

according to the given site which have come to this conclusion that the usgs has a distributed water database that is locally managed. the quality of the local ground water , surface water are compiled from these sources and store that informations to evaluate it in the national information system. in this the graound water has a ecord of about 850000 wells for the course of the ground water hydrology study. this all make this enable to study and records.

thus the areas which have been counted for the high groundwater levels are mostly the coastal region of the united states and the land which is covered with the forest areas. on the other hand if we talk about the areas with the low level of the ground waterv than it is the deserted areas in the regions. the regions which are at the far from the coastal region and have the drought most of the time throughout the year. the rain is below average and thus no path of recharge the groundwater. these are all the factors which rise the formations of levels of the groundwater and thus make a contrary in the high and low level of the ground water in different geographical locations.
