The third piece has mass 3m. Just after the explosion, what are the magnitude and direction of the velocity of the third piece? (Use any variable or symbol stated above as necessary.)

your ans is correct

the velocity will be v/3 i +v/3 j

but magnitude will be =sqrt(2)*v/3
