PLASTIC POLLUTION AND ITS ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACTS
Growing Global population exerting tremendous pressure on nature and causing Global scale harm to Environment. It is true that we need luxury in our life. But it should not be at the cost of destroying nature and creating environmental problems.
Industrialisation, transport, deforestation and increase in agricultural land area etc are contributing in degrading nature. If we can’t take proper planned action now then our future generation lives will be at stake.
We are using fossil fuels like coal and gas for generating power and transporting vehicles. It is very essential for developing World. But brining of these fossil fuels generation large scale Carbon dioxide (CO2) causing heating of atmosphere, greenhouse effect and leading to Global warming. Global warming causing sea level rising which destroying ecosystem and natural habitats there. CO2 emission also causing thinning of Ozone layer which passes ultraviolet rays causes skin burn and cancer.
For fossil fuel coal we are indiscriminately mining coal and which is causing tremendous damage to atmosphere thee by realising CO2 and methane gases. The thermal power plants based on coal realising large quantities of CO2 and contributing in greenhouse effect and Global warming.
Due to Global warming the pattern in precipitation changing drastically. It is causing either drought by less rains and floods by more rains. This situation effecting agriculture and food production. It is going to be a huge problem in future if can’t meet the need of food producing of growing population.
I would like to high light the environmental pollution created by plastics. This is purely man made product and causing very large scale environmental problem. The scale of plastic waste problem spreading all over earth and creating many problems. Now we can witness plastic waste not only in habitations but also even in northern and southern hemispheres. We can’t find any area on earth free of plastic waste.
Plastic bags, bottles, plates, furniture etc. are very cheap and convenient to use. We may not imagine our day to day life without plastic material use. The quantity of plastic waste generated has become a big problem for municipalities and governments in all cities. Plastic material remains in nature long periods without decomposition and mixing with soil. So we are finding plastic waste on land, at sea coasts, lakes, rivers and in snow covered areas.
When it on land it mixes with soil and degrading soil fertility. When it mix with soil it will not allow moisture to evaporate freely there by harming plants. Mixing of plastic waste material with soil reduces the crops yield there by cause food shortage in the World.
The plastic waste mixing with water in sea, lakes and rivers also effecting the aqua habitats and polluting the ecosystems in water bodies. Becaue of this pollution some sea species migrating to new ecosystems and some are in the verge of extinction.
Some research studies showed that marine fish life effected by consumption plastic particles floating in the water. One researcher shown plastic tiny particles in the stomach of fishes and effecting their health. We are consuming those fishes may effect our health also. In some eco-zones the particular fish species either migrated and killed by plastic pollution This process effecting fishing industry in that areas. The eating of these effected fishes may be going to cause very harmful effect to human life.
Similarly some birds eating plastic particles in the soil and affecting their life and some of them are dying. Many domestic animals also eating plastic waste and which is adversely affecting their life. We are eating some of them might have effecting our life. If it continuous like this then there will be huge human health problems going to come out.
So much harm created by plastic waste should be immediately stopped o use in our day to day life. We can survive without plastics then why to use them. So form individuals to governments should contribute in disusing plastic use. Governments should ban plastic industries at once to protect human health, biodiversity and environment.
It is the right time to contributing in boycotting plastic use. Otherwise it is going to create Global environmental problem on human heath and on biodiversity health.
We can completely disassociate ourselves with use of plastics. We should plan alternatives to plastics. There are many alternative possible for plastics we can make it. But it is simple neglect from us we are using plastics and spoiling environment.
The are many cotton made items can replace plastics like bags and baskets etc. Similarly we should make plastics mixed with cotton bags which can decompose easily and mix with soil. No government and Industry should focus towards production of alternative to plastic products. Even if we use it should be biodegradable quality so that plastic waste may not remain in nature.
I have started a NGO Association by explaining ill effects of plastics use and benefits in disusing them. Now gradually man people are joining as members and participating in public awareness and seeking their cooperation in not using plastics. We approached Governments for their help in propagating it and tacking action making only biodegradable plastics. Now our NGO Association activity is spreading rapidly and contributing in not using plastics in our day to day life.
Now based on our researches study help we are in a position to manufacture plastics biodegradable. Industries also showing interest and manufacturing and marketing only biodegradable plastics. Governments made strict rules only to manufacture and sell biodegradable plastics.
If this trend continues all over Globe we can come out of plastic menace and save of our earth from plastic pollution. Now it is the duty of every individual to extend their help to protect ourselves and environment form the plastic hazards.

What is an environmental problem?
An environment faces many poblems in a daily basis. For example thethe most common environmental problem is pollution. Pollution is not only released as harmful smoke from vehicles but also from industries which release toxic waste into the land and water resources.
Sources of pollution:
The main sources of pollution includes,
1) Industries which release toxic waste into rivers and land resources.
2)Vehicles which are entirely responsible for the release of smoke containing carbon monoxide.
3)Use of refrigerators which release CFC( chlorofluorocarbons) and cause depletion in the ozone layer.
Steps to reduce pollution:
Now a new plan is introduced in Delhi . According to the plan,cars can be driven only thrice in a week.So considerably the pollution gets reduced.
Another way is by using resources which cause less amount of pollution to the environment.
