Question

Use an ac sweep in PSPICE to compare the simulated results to your "by hand" calculations for the gain, 3dB frequencies, input resistance, and output resistance of the circuit in Figure 6.142. Use a Q2N3904 and use the values given in problem 6.142 except use B(beta)=160 and RE=3238ohms. Let VCC = 15 V, R1 = 27 k?, R2 = 15 k?, and RC = 3.9 k?. Rsig = 2 k? and a load of 2 k?,

This is the circuit I built so far in PSpice. I can not figure out what I need to make the "VSig" value or what I need to make the capacitor values.

Therefore, I need help figuring out what to make the VSig value and capacitor values and how to do the "by hand" calculations of the problem. Please let me know if there is any other information that appears I might of left out.

Explanation / Answer

I have done similar experiments by simulating in Micro-Cap, similar to PSpice.

The Capacitor values which I used are 10uF and I got satisfactory results.

Since, you have to find 3dB frequencies, vary frequency of the AC supply between 100 Hz to 1MHz(10^6) and plot gain(in dB) vs freq. in Matlab where you can very easily find out the f3dB.

Take amplitude of the AC supply to be 100-200mV.
