Answer a:Mold is the general term for the fungi that grow both indoors and outdoors. The main reason for the growth of molds is humidity. These molds can be health hazard to the humans causing allergic reactions, respiratory diseases like asthma. Symptoms of mold exposure are headache, cough, throat infection, skin irritation, nasal and sinus congestion, persistent sneezing. The plywood, carpet, organic material like soaps, leaky taps provide favorable condition i.e. humidity and food substrate for the growth of molds in our houses. This problem is increasing in recent times because of too air tight homes especially during summer. Since the interior moisture is very high during this time and gets trapped in our houses. Mold can also grow in winter if the house is artificially humidified since moisture is the favorable conditions for the growth of molds. So mold exposure is a problem in newly constructed homes because they are better air sealed and prevents the exchange of air.
