yes we are currently in the middle of mass extinction. there are many things byt which we can say that we can face the mass extinction event in our coming generation.
Global warming - the earth temperature is increasing day by day, many species that we cant see are dieng each day by this warm climates, glaciers are melting, fresh water resources are limited and they are continuously decaying.
Human population at its peak- in our earth human is the most dangerous creature. it wants to live on the earth freely, for the shake of their benefit it kill many species in their day to day life. some species are very rare and they are also effected by the humans. they are very usefull in biodiversity but due to humans they are surviving for their living and they start decaying. so this also indecate that mass extinction may come after a period of time.
tectonics events on earth- we are continously disturbing the earth. and the earth tries to maintain that through its tectonic activity. the avarage earth quakes and volcanism is increased these days and when we disturb them a lot it will destroy the whole life by its tectonic activity.
2 we are effecting the biodiversity for our own benefit but we have fotgotten that we are dependent on these biodiversity. if we are using lands for our buildings then there will be a space problem for farming and for the wild animals . animals will start coming to our locality and are going to live fearfull life , and the farming gives us crop but due to land problem we can not grow these and we have to depend on the animals so by this way the biodiversity effect the human .
3. if the tree were nit there then the sediment transport will be high and their will be no change in other natural thing all thing will be same as today.
