Honestly just 1 thru 3, I really am having trouble with the math and theory. If I get that I can do the CAD and select the material. Thank you for the help in advance.

In order to economize, the manufacturer has decided to use his stock gears on the input and output shafts whose centers are 4.000 in apart as shown on the diagram. ASSIGNMENT: Based on the design data and specifications, design the gear set to satisfy the operating conditions. Note that both input and output gears have the same rotational direction. This means that an idler gear will be required. Very often, the relative location of an idler gear may be instrumental in effecting considerable economy in, say, the selection of a bearing on the idler shaft. It will be required to review the possible locations of the idler gear to determine which position would minimize shaft reactions. Additional design requirements are listed below.
