1. Do you feel Mario did the right thing in keeping quiet and advising Chris without Jame's knowledge? Is that what you would have done?
2. Do you think Engineer A's did the right thing in accepting his new position, and responding to Administrator C's dictates, despite Technician B's concerns? Is that would you would have done?
3. What are the consequences of Administrator C's "face the problem when it happens" approach? Are they dire enough to convince you that Technician B should have taken action, even if it meant losing his job? If not, how serious would the consequences have to be for you to feel this way?
Explanation / Answer
1. Do you feel Mario did the right thing in keeping quiet and advising Chris without Jame's knowledge? Is that what you would have done? No, Mario should not have kept quiet and Jamie has a right to be in the loop when advision.
2. Do you think Engineer A's did the right thing in accepting his new position, and responding to Administrator C's dictates, despite Technician B's concerns? Is that would you would have done? No. Engineer A has a professional responsibility to consider the technicians concerns before making a recommendation to an administrator. It should flow from down up to the administrator. Unfortunately often times there are preasures that prevent this from happening.
3. What are the consequences of Administrator C's "face the problem when it happens" approach? Are they dire enough to convince you that Technician B should have taken action, even if it meant losing his job? If not, how serious would the consequences have to be for you to feel this way? Yes, the consequences are bad enough that I think the Technician should have taken responsibility and action. Not taking action results in a catastrophic even. Some could argue the technician took action by advising the engineer but I do not feel this alone was enough.
