I have a shaft with 3 torques on it. There is a pulley (A), a sprocket (C), and a gear (E). The radii of A, C, and E are all known. There are bearings at B and D. The tension on the rope on A is such that T2=.15T1, similarly the forces in the chain on C is such that F2=.2F1, there is one force on the gear E (FE).

T1, T2, F1, F2, and FE are also known. How do I calculate the torque for each element? Everytime I do it my net torque does not equal zero.

I have been calculating it this way: TorqueA=ra*(T1-T2), TorqueC=rc*(F1-F2), and TorqueE=re*(FE).

It should be noted that I was initially given the power deivered to each component which netted to zero. I was also given the rpm of the shaft and the distances between each component. My process of calculating the forces was to find the resultant forces on each component with the equation W=F*r*w. I then used the force to calculate the torques since I was given T2=.15T1 and F2=.2F1.

The torque on C should actually be positive, A and E are negative.

i think what you have done is correct but you havent considered if the gear was a helical or a spur, maybe they have given something regarding that in your question.
