Geologist James Moore ,who works in US Geological Surveys of Melano Park, California. in 1964, moore was looking over US Navy Sonar Surveys of the ocean floor off the HAwaiian Islands. he realised that the networks of submarine mountains could have started out part of Oahu itself. Moore proposed that cataclysmic earthquakes has swept them off the islands and send them tumbling to the seafloor.

No one believed idea of Moore, untill Mount St Helens erupted in 1980. The collapsed flanks of volcano looks like patterns of evenly spaced hummocks. after "GLORIA" ( US Gelogical Survey ship with sonar equipped) got the detailed images of Hawaiian sea floor revels that those are evenly spaced himmocks.

on developing a computer model about the landslides causes the gaint Tsunami waves, which gives evidences for Moore proposal. Moore when exploring Island found scattered boulders and filelds of limestones at a height of 100m or above sea level, which could only possiblie to came from the coral reefs below the sea level.It gives strength to Moore 's Propsal. as the computer model says those gaint waves are as much as height of 100m but those results depends upon the inputs.this supports Moore's proposal of SUbmarine landslides causes gaint waves.
