Explanation / Answer
(5) Sonata is a three-movement piece for solo piano or any solo instrument with or without piano accompaniment. Sonata-allegro refers to a particular form originally used in one-movement pieces, later incorporated in the three-movement sonata which was named for the form. A typical sonata-allegro form is
(I) first theme, expansion
(II ) second theme, expansion
(III) development of the opening theme or themes
(IV)recapitulation of the themes
V coda
Sonata-allegro originally included tonal relationships between the first and second themes, tonal freedom during the development, and tonal unity of the recapitulation and coda.
(4) Classical concerto is a piece of music composed for an instrumental soloist and orchestra. It is written to feature the musical skills and expressiveness of a single musician, the soloist, while being accompanied by a large group of musicians that make up the orchestra. It was developed and became popular during the Classical period of musical history, which occurred from about 1750 to 1830.
(1) Fugue is a complex style of composition that was developed during the Baroque period. In this lesson, learn how fugues are made, what characteristic qualities make up the style, and how Bach influenced the style, and listen to examples.
(2) Both composers began and ended their careers as freelancers; but in between were employed as servants by wealthy and powerful men, as was common in eighteenth century Europe.
Haydn - Prince Paul Anton Esterházy. They seem to have got along well enough, though very much as master and servant. By all accounts, Haydn seems to have been a very agreeable person, and his employment continued until the Prince's death. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Haydn#The_y...
Mozart - Prince-Archbishop Colloredo of Salzburg. These two did NOT get on at all. Mozart was a stubborn character, and the legend goes that his employment was terminated by his being kicked down the steps of the Archbishop's palce. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mozart#1773...
