The truck costs S0.17 per ton per mile. The freight train costs $0.03 per ton per mile. The barge costs $0.02 per ton per mile Based on the information gathered so far, which method would you recommend to minimize the cost of moving the coal and why?Explanation / Answer
Solution: For truck traveling, total amount spent= 150 * 0.17 =$25.5
For freight train, total amount spent= 700 * 0.03 = $24
For transportation by both barge and freight train= 200*0.01 + 700*0.03 =$25
Since travelling by freight train is less as compared to others , so economical is freight train .
