Explanation / Answer

35. b. True

because Aldosterone, the main mineralocorticoid hormone, is essential for sodium conservation in the kidney, salivary glands, sweat glands and colon. Antidiuretic hormone (ADH) and aldosterone are hormones that tell your kidney to put water back in the blood. It balances sodium and potassium in your blood. Aldosterone is a type of steroid hormone that acts primarily in renal collecting ducts to stimulate reabsorption of Na+ as well as secretion of K+ and H+. Aldosterone also causes water to be reabsorbed along with sodium.

36. b. Insulin

Insulin helps control blood glucose levels by signaling the liver and muscle and fat cells to take in glucose from the blood.  In addition to its role in regulating glucose metabolism, insulin stimulates lipogenesis, diminishes lipolysis, and increases amino acid transport into cells. Insulin therefore helps cells to take in glucose to be used for energy.

37. c. Epinephrine

Epinephrine, more commonly known as adrenaline, is a hormone secreted by the medulla of the adrenal glands.
