Reflect on a facilitated training session you experienced that affected you either positively or negatively. Describe the methods, tools, or strategies from the session that you would like to emulate, if the experience was positive, or avoid, if the experience was negative. Analyze the facilitated session in terms of the characteristics of adult learning and effective facilitation that you have learned about in the course and course readings. Then, explain the role the training played in improving your individual performance and whether or not the learning objectives and design supported overall organizational improvement.
Explanation / Answer
I participated in a training program that focused on ethical conduct in sales and marketing. Being a team leader of business development executives, the training program helped me and my team members positively to improve the methods and tactics adopted to generate leads and sales. Under the training program, case study method was used to inculcate the learning. Under this method, different scenarios were presented by the trainers and possible course of action was discussed. It helped participants to learn the application aspects of the ethical conduct in business development. in the sext part of the training program, case studies were allotted to all the participants and they responded with possible course of action as per their choice.
Once, everybody submitted the case study with a course of action plan, each case solution was discussed in the training programs with the pros and cons under the purview of ethics, high moral and values. A timely modification was also suggested to improve the course of conduct. At the end of the training program, all participants became a better professional with high moral and ethical conduct. In this training program, effective facilitation took place as it involved each participant and give individual feedbacks also. It helped in maximizing the individual learning process.
It improved the overall learning of participants and the method was very effective to achieve the objective of the training as a business development executives face different scenarios and they have to take quick decisions. So, case study method helped in presenting diversified scenarios and helped participants to apply it better I their work areas.
