** I think these are all and/or problems, but i would still like to see how you set these up**
A) What is the probability that a fly will have NEITHER of the two traits?
B) What is the probability that a fly will have ATLEAST ONE of the two traits?
C) What is the probability that a fly will have ONLY ONE of the two traits?
D) What is the probability that a fly will have BOTH traits?
E) If 8 flies are taken what is the probabilty that they will all have blue eyes?
Explanation / Answer
a) P( neither of the two traits) = 1 - (1/4 * 1/2) = 0.857
b) P( at least one of the two traits) = 1 - P(neither of the two traits) = 1 - 0.857 = 0.143
c) P(only one of the two traits) = 1/4 * 1/2 + 1/2 * 3/4 = 0.5
d) P( fly will have both traits) = 1/4 * 1/2 = 0.125
e) P(All 8 have blue eyes) = (1/4)^8 = 0.00002
