Standard Deviation, S = 3.75

Best survival time, X = 12.025

Calculating z-score:

z = (X-m)/S = (12.025-15)/3.75 = -0.793

The corresponding right tailed p-value for this z-score is:

p = 0.7861

So, proportion of survival times longer than the best survival time = 0.7861

(d)

Proportion of survival times shorter than the best survival time = 1-0.7861 = 0.2139

(e)

For top 1%, the right left p-value is 0.99

The corresponding z-score for this p-value is:

z = 2.326

So,

(X-m)/S = 2.326

Putting values:

X = S*2.326 + m = 3.75*2.326 + 15 = 23.7225

So, minimum survival time necessary for consideration = 23.7225
