(B) Statistic 4 pts) Assuming a long-run proportion of 0.5, a simulated null distribution of 1000 sample proportions gave a mean of 0.501 and a standard deviation of 0.017. Use the 2SD Method to calculate an approximate 95% confidence interval for . [3 pts] Write a sentence interpreting your interval from part b. in context of the problem. (If you were unable to complete part b., state a made-up interval and interpret your made- up interval.) c. [3 pts] Does this study allow us to generalize our results to the population of all US adults? Explain. d. A tire manufacturer designed a new tread pattern for its all-weather tires. Repeated tests were conducted on cars of approximately the same weight traveling at 60 miles per hour. The tests showed that the new tread pattern enables the cars to stop completely in an average distance of 130 feet with a standard deviation of 7.5 feet and that the stopping distances are approximately normally distributed. 8. [4 pts] Fill in the two blanks below: About 95% of cars of approximately the same weight traveling at 60 miles per hour will stop completely in a distance of between a. andfeet. b. 12 pts] What is the value of the S0h percentile of the distribution of stopping distances?Explanation / Answer
Please post 1 question per post, as per forum rules. Answer to question 8 is as follows:
8.
a. The 95% of cars are apprimiztely the same weight travelling at 60 mph will stop completetly in a distance of between Average - 2* Stdev and Average + 2*Stdev
= 130 -2*7.5 to 130 + 2*7.5
= 115 feet to 145 feet
b.The value of 50th percentile is basically the mean of the distribution, which is = 130 feet
