Correlation and CrossTabs Use data file Peanut Butter 2018.sav to answer these problems Problem 1. Determine the correlations between the variables price comparison (pricecomp), price sensitivity (pricesen), association (association), advertising effect (advertefffec), product performance (prodperf), and respect (respect). Significance level.05 a. Write the formal hypothesis to be tested (in English) for price comparison and advertising effect. Hypothesis: Hypotheses to be tested? b. What test are you conducting? What is the significance level? Test to be conducted: Significance level: c. d. What is the decision rule? e. Calculate the correlation table, including significance. Included output table. Include output table here: f. Determine the conclusion.

Explanation / Answer

a. Hypothesis to be tested is given in two forms Null and alternate hypothesis. When comparing price sensitivity and advertising effect, the hypothesis for testing is formulated as follows

Hypothesis: Increasing advertising effect creates an increase in the price sensitivity

b. For a given advertising expenditure level,

Null Hypothesis H0: U>U0, where U0 isa benchmarked price sensitivity level

Alternate hypothesis: Ha: U<U0

c. The test that we will conduct will be the t-test of significance as the population std. deviation is not available

Significance level we will use is 95% as this is the most common significance level to test hypothesis

d. The decision rule will be if the p-value or area under the right tail of the std. normal curve < 0.05 at the 95% sig. level then we will reject the null hypothesis
