3. An energy drink company routnely measures the caffeine content(mg) of their drinks. Suppose that the company randomly selects 50 samples of the drink every hour from it's production line and determinesthe caffeine content (a) From the QQ plot given in Figurel, do you think the caffeine content follows a normal distribution? (b) Using the density histogram given in Figure2 and Tablel, find the probability that the caffeine content in a random drink is no less than 110 mg? (c) Assume the caffeine content follows N (130, 49), find the probability that the caffeine content in a random drink is no less than 110 mg? (d) Comment on the results in (b) and (c).(Hint: think about the normality appropriateness)

Explanation / Answer

a)
no , because the sample quantiles does not lie on straight line

b)
P(X > 110) = 0.008 + 0.046 + 0.026
= 0.08

c)
P(X > 110) = P(Z>( 110 - 130)/7)
= P(Z> -2.857142)
= 0.0021
