Question
Create your own situation that could be modelled with a binomial probability
P(X = x | n, )
Where:
n = number of observations (the sample)
= probability of an event of interest
x = number of events of interest in the sample
Define x, n and in your situation. Select a sample size, n, between 5-20. Select a probability between 0-1 (of course!). Select x that is n.
Use the Excel function binom.dist to calculate the probability or the workbook (click to download Binomial.xlsx) to create a binomial table. Your binomial table needs to have all possible outcomes included (e.g. x = 0, 1, 2, ... , n).
Copy/paste your binomial table into your post.
Explain in your own words and in the context of your situation, the answer to the question, “What is the probability of P(X = x | n, )?
Explanation / Answer
Here i have taken n = 15
I have taken a probability p = 0.4
now x can have values from 0 to 15
and i will calculate
P(X = x l 15, 0.4) with the formula BINOMDIST (x; 15 ; 0.4 ; false) in excel .
Here the binomial table
x P(x) 0 0.00047 1 0.004702 2 0.021942 3 0.063388 4 0.126776 5 0.185938 6 0.206598 7 0.177084 8 0.118056 9 0.061214 10 0.024486 11 0.00742 12 0.001649 13 0.000254 14 2.42E-05 15 1.07E-06Related Questions
