Question

This Question: 1 pt 11 of 12 (1 complete) ? Test the following claim. Identifly the null hypothesis, alternative hypothesis, test statistic, critical value(s), conclusion about the null hypothesis, and final conclusion that addresses the original claim. A simple random sample of 50 salaries of professional football coaches has a mean of $416,657. The standar d deviation of all salaries of professional football coaches is S461,916. Use a 0.01 significance level to test the claim that the coach is less than 5500,000. What are the null and alternative hypotheses? 0 A, HO ? > SS00000 O C. HoH $500,000 ? B. Ho-S500000 H 1: ?-3500,000 0 D. Ho ?

Explanation / Answer

Answer , with all calculations are below:

n = 50
Mean = 416657
Stdev = 461916

We will use the Z distribution because we know the population deviation and n>30

We have test the claim if test theat coach salary is less than $500,000

So, Ha: Mu<500000 ( as claim always goes to alternate hypothesis)
Ho: Ho: Mu = 500000

So, C is the answer

Test statistic, z = (Xbar-Mu)/(Sigma/sqrt(n)) = (416657-500000)/(461916/sqrt(50)) = -1.276

Hence, the critical value of Z is P(Z<-1.276) = 0.1010.

This is mor ethan .01 and hence we fail to reject Ho.

There isn't sufficient....less than $500,000
