Epiphyseal antery 8) The formation of cantilage where new cartilage is deposited on the surface of existing cartilage is known as b Appositional growth

Explanation / Answer

1.Hydroxyapatite is found in the inorganic matrix of bone. It is one of the major components of bones and teeth . It makes up the mineral and forms rigidity of bones and teeth. It is used as a filler to replace amputated bone and is also used in prosthetic implants for regrowth of bones.

2. The secondary growth center of bone is subject to dysplasia . It is the abnormal growth and development of bone which occur at epiphysis which forms the secondary center of ossification.

3.The portion of bone containing bone marrow is diaphysis . It contains bone marrow ( red and yellow ) and adipose tissue. It is the middle tubular part of bone and surrounds the marrow cavity.

4. According to Wolff's law bone in a healthy person or animal will adapt to loads under which it is placed and remodeling occur on increase of load to become stronger.

Osteocyte are the bone cells which are known as the mediator of Wolff's law . They are the most abundant cells which are sensitive to the fluid flow caused by mechanical loading . It senses the signal of loading, regulate bone remodelling by signaling to other cells .

5. Endochondral bone formation is the process by which growing cartilage is replaced by bone to form the growing skeleton.

6. Nutrient artery supplies the primary growth center of bone . It supplies two -third part of diaphysis and one third part of metaphyses.

7. In avascular necrosis the first part or the distal part of bone does not have blood supply . Epiphyseal artery is the artery which gets damaged.

8. Appositional growth means growth accomplished by addition of new layer to those previously made.
