Correlation is a statistical method through which we can find out that whether and how strongly the pairs of variables are related. For ex, height and weigh are related , taller people are heavier than smaller ones.

Scatter plots are like line graphs in which there are horizontal and vertical axes( X and Y axes). The two variables between whom the correlation is to be established are plotted on the either axes. Basically, there are two types of correlation, one is positive correlation and the other one is negative correlation.By looking at the scatter plots, the closer the data points come in a straight line the more the strength of the correlation. If the data points make a straight line going out from origin to high x and y values , it is positive correlation and if values start from a high value on y axis and end at high value on x axis , it is negative correlation.

Correlation coefficient (r) is calculated to find how strong a relation is between two vriables. The value of r lies between -1 and 1. If the value is positive it is positive correlation. IF the value is negative it is a negative correlation. And if the value is Zero There is no any relation. The strength of the correlation can be found by how closer the value of r is to 1 for string positive correlation and how close to -2 for strong negative corelation.
