Question : Once you have collected your exposure and outcome data, is it too late to control for confounding? Why or why not?
Explanation / Answer
Answer.
No. It is not too late to control for confounding data once exposure and outcome data is collected. This is because there are various methods which are used to control for confounding in the anaalysis. They are stratified analysis and multiple regression techniques.
In stratfied analysis, the effect between exposure and outcome in each of the various levels taken by the confounding factor is measured The confounding factor can have two or more categories.
In multiple regression technique, confounding factor is controlled side by side.If there are two categories in the outcome variable then multiple regression analysis is often used.
