However, when she started taking "activated charcoal," her condition began to improve. The posting on the message board also explained that his wife had possibly ingested herbicides and might have been poisoned by these "toxins." Describe the design of controlled experiment to deter mine whether activated charcoal can cure people suffering from whar we will call lovin disease, assuming that such a disease exists. Design: randomised, parallel control trial to cure the "lovin disease"

sample size: 200 (100 for activated charcoal and 100 for placebo)

Randomization: patient will be randomised between two groups.

Statistical test: Two sample t-tests will be applied to check the statistical significance difference between the activated charcoal and placebo.
