Montgomery, Applied Statistics and Probability for Engineers, 7e Help I System Announcements ES Reserve Problems Chapter 3 Section 3 Problem 7 XIncorrect. Consider the following circuit. The probability that each device functions correctly is Pi = 0.87 and P2 =0.73. Assume that devices fail independently. P1 P2 Let the random variable X denote the number of failed devices. Calculate the mean for X E(X)0.296 exact number, no tolerance Click if you would like to Show Work for this question: Open Show Work LINK TO TEXT SAVE FOR LATER SUBMIT ANSWER Question Attempts: UnlimitedExplanation / Answer
answer=0.3649
here the p1 and p2 are in series, so the circuit/devices will be in function when both the p1 and p2 is working.
so P(device will function)=p1*p2=0.87*0.73=0.6351
therefore P(device will not function)=1-P(device will function)=1-0.6351=0.3649
so required answer=0.3649
