Question
You have been hired to conduct a job satisfaction survey for a local gift shop that has 15 employees. You have given the 15 employees a job satisfaction survey, and you have calculated a job satisfaction score for each person. Total scores can range from 0 (very low job satisfaction) to 40 (very high job satisfaction).
The norms for this job satisfaction survey suggest that individuals who score less than 20 on this survey are dissatisfied with their jobs. Following are the scores for each of the 15 employees you surveyed.
The mean of the scores is 18.67. The median is 15, the mode is 10 and 12, the range of observed scores is 33 and the standard deviation is 11.37
Questions:
(6) Can you draw any conclusions from the data you have collected (e.g., Are the employees satisfied or dissatisfied? What might be happening in this organization? What follow-up work might you do?)
(7) Finally, let's say you decide to conduct a study on what variables are correlated with job satisfaction in this and other organizations.
(a) What variables would you guess might be positively correlated with job satisfaction?
(b) What variables might be negatively correlated with job satisfaction?
