Explanation / Answer

Solution:-

a) The probability that randomly selected vehicle is Company C is 0.2353.

Total number of vehicles = 34

Number of vehicles that are Company C = 34 - 10 - 16 = 8

The probability that randomly selected vehicle is Company C = 8/34 = 0.2353

b) The probability that randomly selected vehicle is truck is 0.2353

Total number of vehicles = 34

Total number of trucks = 34 - 26 = 8.0

The probability that randomly selected vehicle is truck = 8/34 = 0.2353

c) The probability that randomly selected vehicle is either a company B or a car is 0.7941.

Number of vehicles that are car = 26

Number of vhicle that are company B = 16

Number of vehicle that are company B and a car = 15

Number of vehicle that are either a company B or a car = 26 + 16 - 15 = 27

The probability that randomly selected vehicle is either a company B or a car = 27/34 = 0.7941

d) The probability that randomly selected vehicle is a company A truck is 0.1471.

Total number of vehicles = 34

Number of Company A truck = 8 - 2 - 1 = 5

The probability that randomly selected vehicle is a company A truck = 5/34 = 0.1471
