(a i)Ho:mu = 3

Ha: mu > 3

z= (Xbar-mu)/(sd/sqrt(n))

where we have

Xbar=3.46

mu=3

sd=2.17

n=323

(a ii)z=(3.46-3)/(2.17/sqrt(323))

=3.809775

So., Z stat is 3.81

(a iii) p value is to be calculated from z table by lookianf at the area towards the right of the normal distribution curve for z value as 3.81

which is P(Z>3.81)=0.0000694

Now we are using alpha =0.1

So we will reject the Ho if P value is less than 0.1 (value of alpha)

So in this case p value is very very less tahn 0.1 and so we are rejecting the Ho
