When the TI 83 says something like 6.184E-6, doesn't thisreally mean that we move the decimal point over negative 6 spaceswhere we get: .000006184? Also, if the value says something like 5.14376E 10,doesn't this really mean that we move the decimal point,positively, over 10 spaces where we get: 51437600000.0? Please give an example. Yes you are right. Also, if your calculator is displaying thenumber 10 like 1E1, you can change that by going to mode andchanging to scientific. An example would be 6.8E5 would be 680000. Hope this helps!
