a) Volume of a pyramid=Bh/3 where B=area of the base andh=height B=(30 cm)2=900 cm2 Vpyramid=(900 cm2)(40cm)=36000 cm3 Volume of cube=s3 Vcube=(40 cm)3=64000cm3 Vpyramid+Vwater=Vcube Vwater=Vcube-Vpyramid=(64000-36000)cm3=28000 cm3 If the pyramid is removed, water will assume ashape of a rectangular prism with B=900 cm2 28000 cm3=900cm2*h h=28000/900 cm=31.1 cm
