n attempting tofly from chicago to louisville, a distance of 330 miles, a pilotinadvertently took a course that was 10 degrees inerror. a) if theaircraft maintains an average speed of 220 miles per hour and ifthe error in direction is discovered after 15 minutes, through whatangle should the pilot turn to head toward louisville? b) what newaverage speed shohuld the pilot maintain so the total time of thetrip is 90minutes. how do i evenbegin to do this?Make a diagram. If the plane travels 15 min (1/4 hour) it goes 220/4=55miles. THus one side ofthe triangle goes from start to that point. The second sideof the triangle is 330 miles from start and all the way toLouisville THe anglebetween the two sides is 10 degrees THere isanother, third side, it runs from the end of the 55 segment tolouisville. ONce youcalculate the third sides length, you know you have 90-15 minutes -75 minutes to travel that far. Speed =distance/1.25 = miles per hour
...................... thisis 55 long ... ... this angle is 10 ...... ... ,,,, this is 330long
