I would solve by assigning 2 variables: Let x = number of adults thatattended Let y = number of children thatattended We have two equations: 1) x + y = 350 (this equation comes from thefact that there were 350 people all together) 2) 2x + 1y = 520 (This equation comes fromthe fact that each "x" adult paid $2 and each "y" child paid$1) Now we can use substitution to solve: x + y = 350 x = 350 - y Now substitute the right side in for x in the otherequation 2(350-y) + y = 520 700 - 2y + y = 520 700 -y = 520 (subract 700 from each side) -y = 520 - 700 -y = -180 y = 180 This is the number of children whoattended Now substitute 180 in for y into either equation x = 350 -180 x = 170 This is number of adults Hope that helps!!!
