Could someone explain in plain english how to find the focifor an ellipse, like maybe a step by step example. And parabolasalmost killed me. Still don't understand the directrix, latusrectum, or focus. So if someone would be so kind tothouroughly explain all equations and such, I would verygrateful:) here's an example of a problem that almost took my life: put into standard form- i know the vertex is (-2,3), it's a function opening upward (V), and 4p=4 (thus p=1)...but what do I do with allthat?
