Let A be a 3x2 matrix B be a 2x2 singular matrix C be a 3x3 nonsingular matrix D be a 3x3 matrix I be the 2x2 Identity matrix.Clearly Circle either True or False for each of the statmentsbelow? and explain why?
(b) T or F It is possible to compute: BIATC
(c) T or F It is possible to compute: (AB-1)I
(d) T or F It is possible to compute:CDC-1=D
(e) T or F It is possible to compute: BI=I

Explanation / Answer
(b) True It is possible to multiply B & I since both are 2*2matrices. BI is a 2*2 matrix. AT is 2*3 matrix. So BIcan be multiplies with AT. The resultant matrix is a 2*3matrix. Since C is 3*3matrix, it is possible to multiply thetwo. (c) False B is a singular matrix and henceB-1 cannot be calculated. (d) Since all 3 are 3*3 matrices it is possible to multiplythem but I'm not sure if the result will be D. I am inclined tobelieve the answer is True (e) False BI = B typicallyRelated Questions
