Question

Alright, so here is the question:
~~~~~~~~~ The Bureau of the Public Debt may accept gifts donated to the United States Government to reduce debt held by the public. The total gifts given for the fiscal y ears 1997 and 2005, were approximately $956,000 and $1,460,000, respectively. To the nearest tenth, how many times greater were the gifts donated in 2005 as compared to those in 1997? ~~~~~~~~~ Now, obviously I know *how much greater* one is than the other, but I'm not sure how to go about getting the 'how many times greater' part. Do I just divide the two? Because that's only 0.65...is that right? That doesn't seem like it would be right...I've looked at the examples in the book and I can't really see anything similar enough to help me. So I came here, lol. (Also, this is due tomorrow, so anything fast, correct, and maybe with steps shown would be great!) Thank you so much!! I promise I'll rate high :) (If y'all are still doing that...I haven't been on since the upgrade, so I don't know how this works anymore, LOL) Alright, so here is the question:
Explanation / Answer
from the year 1997 to 2005, you want to see how greater 2005 is to 1997. 1997 to 2005: 956000/1460000
1997 to 2005: 0.6548 times greater (not your answer)
Nearest Tenth: 0.7 times greater
2005 to 1997: 1460000/956000
2005 to 1997: 1.5272 times greater (your answer)
Nearest Tenth: 1.5 times greater
Hope that helps
