for b, you find the total degree of the equation by adding all the exponents of the facots up. so that would be 2+2+1 so 5 so this is an odd power, and there is a negative out front, so the graph would start up and end down, so the left side up and the right side down. to find the max number of turning points plot the graph on the calculator to see how many time s it has a max or min, in this case there are 4 turning points for the intervals where it is positive and negative you look at the graph, for x less than -2 it is positive going up to positive 2 it is negative and going up to 5 it is negative and bewond 5 it is positive
