a.Express the volume V as a function of x. Also give the domain of this function. (answer: V=3x^3-70x^2+400x)
b. In problem 74, you are to find all the values of x that would result in a box with a volume of 500 cubic inches. Write tthe equation and show that all real solutions are greater than 0 and less than 25.
c. Two solutons of the equation in (b) are 6.2 and 15.4 (rounded to the one decimal place). Use the bisection method to find the third solution (accurate to one decimal place only). Which of these solutions are legitimate answers in (b)?


Problem 74:
A box with a hinged lid is to be made out of a piece of cardboard that measures 20 by 40 inches. Six squares, x inches on the side, will be cut from each corner and the middle, and then the ends and sides will be folded up to form the box and its lid. Find the value of x that would result in a box with a volume of 500 cuboc inches.
