For tall, observed= 750; Expected= total x 3/4= 960 x 3/4= 720

For short, observed= 210; Expected= total x 1/4= 960 x 1/4 =240

For tall-

chi square= (observed-expected)2/ expected

=(30 x30)/720 =900/720 = 1.25

For short-

chi square= (observed-expected)2/ expected

=(-30 x -30)/240 = 900/240 =3.75

Total chi square = 1.25 +3.75 = 5.00

degree of freedom= 2-1= 1
