Question
Use a calculator to answer the questions that follow:
As mountain climbers reach higher and higher altitudes, they can see farther aout toward the horizon. A function for this relationship is f(x)=3.57x , Where x = the climbers' altitude (or height) in meters, and f(X) finds how far away they can see ( in kilometers).
1. Complete the table to the left: ( I will try to do table best I can)

2. Show that f(100) = 35.7, and explain what it means in the problem.
3. Set up and solve an inequality to determine the altitudes from which a climber could see further than 30 km
Explanation / Answer
This isn't as bad as you probably think it is. For the first part, you simply plug in your x value for the x in the right side of the equation. f(x) is just another name for y. So,
f(10) = 3.5710 = 11.29
f(20) = 3.5720 =15.97
f(30) = 3.5730 =19.55
f(40) = 3.5740 = 22.58
For the next part, plug 100 in for x:
f(100) = 3.57100 = 35.7
This is simply saying that when a climber is at an altitude of 100 meters, he can see a distance of 35.7 kilometers.
For the inequality part, use 30 for f(x) [which is the distance he can see and you're trying to find when he can see further than that. So 30 will be the smallest value and your inequality will look like:
30<3.57x
