Ip(called as internet protocol) is legitimate inspite its "unorthodox method" because it uniquely identifies the host on the network, as each host is allocated or assigned a unique ip once it gets connected to the internet.

To preserve the uniqueness or unique identity of host on the internet an ip address is necessarily allocated to each host once connected to internet..

If allocation of ip addressing would not be legitimate irrespective of its method then there will be a big chaios on the network..

No body can get where from message comes or to which host message is to be sent..which can result in the fatal issue that's network congestion due to flooding of unidentified messages.

Therefore to get the clarity of messages and in order to avoid the issues like chaios or congestion of network ip addressing is must whatever the method need to be applied..
