Solution:

Let us assume that ball move the distance after earthquake = x inches

Now diameter of crystal is = 10 inches

and diameter of round table = 4 feet = 48 inches

therefore difference of distance of ball movement on the table before reaching to edge must be greatar than its diameter

to protect it from fall

therefore

48 - x > 10
